After Heated Mall Clash, Rowena Guanzon Targets Both Her Accuser & the Video Uploader

ROWENA GUANZON – Former Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Atty. Rowena Guanzon is now seeking accountability from those involved in spreading the controversial video showing her in a tense confrontation inside a mall.

Rowena Guanzon has issued a warning that she plans to pursue legal action against the individual responsible for uploading a viral video of her tense encounter inside a mall. The circulating clip shows Guanzon in a verbal dispute with a man who reportedly reprimanded her for coughing without a face mask.

In addition to preparing charges against the man involved in the confrontation, Guanzon said she is also targeting the person who recorded and shared the video online. She stressed that posting the footage without her consent violated her right to privacy. The incident unfolded on the night of December 6.

“Ako naman, pumayag naman ako, i-video nila kasi alam ko na kakalat ‘yong video, na unauthorized. By the way, that video violated my right to privacy. For now, gusto ko lang malaman niya na they committed a crime, and they should delete their post,” she said during an interview with ABS-CBN.

On December 7, Guanzon shared details of the incident on her Facebook page, explaining that the confrontation caused her blood pressure to rise, requiring medical assistance at the mall. The dispute reportedly began after she coughed once because of an itchy throat, causing a Chinese national to accuse her of being “contagious.”

“Nagreklamo po talaga ako sa police and filed a case for unjust vexation and grave oral defamation last night,” she said.

Guanzon added that she felt humiliated after being asked, “Don’t you have money to buy a mask?” and stressed that she only reacts strongly when faced with “sukdulan ang injustice.”

She has since filed a case at the Makati Central Police Station against the man, whom she identified as “Chiong.” According to her, the man escaped with the help of his lawyer while officers were reading him his Miranda Rights.
