Ambulance Bound for Hospital Crashes Leaving Senior and Medic Dead
AMBULANCE – A routine emergency transport turned tragic when an ambulance carrying a senior patient met a fatal accident.
A tragic road accident in Negros Occidental claimed the lives of a senior citizen patient and a medical worker after the ambulance carrying them crashed during heavy rainfall.
According to reports, a 70-year-old female patient and a 30-year-old medical personnel were on board the ambulance and were on their way to a hospital when the incident happened. The emergency vehicle was being driven by a 48-year-old ambulance driver.
Initial police investigation revealed that weather conditions may have played a major role in the crash. Authorities said the rain was pouring heavily at the time of the accident, making the road slippery and visibility poor.
Based on the statement of the ambulance driver, he allegedly lost control of the steering wheel while trying to avoid a vehicle in front of them. In an attempt to prevent a collision, he reportedly swerved the ambulance in another direction. However, the sudden maneuver caused the vehicle to veer off course and slam into a concrete roadside post.
The impact of the crash was severe, leaving the passengers badly injured. The senior citizen patient and the medical personnel were immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. Sadly, both were declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, the ambulance driver survived the accident but sustained injuries. He is currently recovering in the hospital. Also confined for treatment is the patient’s 50-year-old relative, who was also inside the ambulance during the crash.
The incident has left the local community grieving over the sudden loss of two lives, especially since the victims were already in transit for urgent medical care. The death of the medical personnel has also drawn sympathy, as they were carrying out their duty to assist a patient in need.
Police authorities said their investigation is still ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the accident. They are also looking into whether charges may be filed against the ambulance driver, depending on the outcome of the probe.
The tragic crash serves as a painful reminder of the dangers posed by poor weather conditions and the risks faced even during emergency medical transport.
