Based on the investigation by the Manila Police District Sampaloc Police Station, the officer was on his way home with his girlfriend when they came across a commotion involving the suspects and the delivery rider.

The officer decided to stop and step in to calm the situation. The rider reported that he had been robbed by a minor. Hoping to bring the minor to the police station, the officer placed the child on his motorcycle.

However, several men suddenly arrived and accused the officer of hurting the child. Despite identifying himself as a police officer, the group continued to attack him. The officer was forced to fire his service firearm once in the air to defend himself and stop the assault.
