Slater Young Takes A Stand As Misinformation Spreads Over Cebu Tragedy
SLATER YOUNG – Online backlash continues to grow as Slater Young finally addresses the controversy linking his project to the Cebu flooding.
Filipino celebrity engineer Slater Young has firmly spoken out against the spread of misinformation, stressing that he and his family are prepared to take action against those responsible. His statement comes in the wake of renewed online criticism linking his residential project, Monterrazas de Cebu, to the devastating flooding caused by Typhoon Tino in Cebu.
Young, known for winning Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited, addressed the issue through a video posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, April 19, 2026. The video followed public backlash that resurfaced after the severe flooding that hit Cebu during Typhoon Tino on November 3 to 4, 2025.
At the height of the controversy, Young’s social media accounts were flooded with negative comments, with some netizens blaming his high-end mountain development project for worsening the flooding situation. Monterrazas de Cebu, which Young has frequently showcased in his vlogs, became a focal point of criticism online.
In his statement, Young clarified that a study conducted by scientists from the University of the Philippines had already been released, emphasizing that the researchers have no connection to their company, Monterrazas. The findings, according to him, aim to shed light on the real causes of the flooding.
Despite respecting differing opinions, Young made it clear that he will not tolerate the spread of false information. “We respect everyone’s right to their own opinion but we will not stay silent in the face of misinformation,” he said.
He further emphasized his willingness to take necessary legal or appropriate action to protect his loved ones from harm caused by such claims. “We will take all necessary steps to protect our family from it,” he added.
Young also highlighted the importance of identifying the true cause of the disaster, stressing that real solutions depend on an accurate understanding. “Cebu deserves a real solution, and real solutions can only come from correctly identifying the real cause,” he stated.
“That is work that is ongoing and Monterrazas is committed to being part of it. I am committed to becoming a part of it,” he concluded.
