Construction Worker Arrested in Quezon City Over Alleged Theft of P300 Worth of Copper 

A 32-year-old construction worker was arrested in Barangay Masambong, Quezon City over alleged theft of P300 worth of copper. 

On Friday, May 1, 2026, a man in Quezon City after authorities tracked him down during what was supposed to be a meeting with a woman he was courting.   

The suspect had been wanted for a theft case linked to an incident that happened back in 2021 while he was still working as a construction worker in Calamba City, Laguna. According to police, the man allegedly stole copper materials worth a little over P300 from the company where he used to work.

Police said they received information from a tipster who reported that the suspect would be meeting his date in the area. With the help of the report, authorities were able to locate and arrest him before the meeting could happen. 

“Nagnakaw po siya ng tanso at doon na po siya kinasuhan at nireklamo ng kumpanya sa Calamba, Laguna. Noong 2021 pa po nangyari ‘yong krimen,” La Loma Police Station chief PLt. Col. Jose Luis Aguirre said. 

The suspect admitted taking the copper and explained that he was going through financial problems at the time. He shared that he needed money for house rent and food, which pushed him to make the wrong decision. 

The construction worker also admitted that the stolen items were only worth a small amount, but he accepted responsibility for what happened. 

“Kasalanan ko po ‘yun… halagang 300 pesos plus po… sakto lang po na gipit talaga ako ng pera,” the suspect explained. 

Despite the incident, the man insisted that he did not intentionally run away from the law. He explained that he left Calamba after separating from his wife and believed the case had already ended because he attended the court hearings connected to it. 

According to him, he thought the case had only been temporarily dismissed, and he did not fully understand the court’s decision at the time.
