Sen. Bato dela Rosa Still No Show in Senate Sessions

BATO DELA ROSA – The Senator is asked to respond to the ethics complaint over his long absence in the Senate.

Dela Rosa is absent from the Senate sessions since November 2025. His long-time absence came after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla claimed that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has allegedly issued an arrest warrant against the Senator.

A lot of Filipinos question why the Senator supposedly continues receiving his salary despite his absence from the Senate sessions. His allies in the Senate defended that the former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief’s absence is allegedly not from his own desire.

Sen. Bato dela Rosa is receiving P237k salary per month according to Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson. The said claim has ignited the calls on Dela Rosa to waive his salary amid his absence.

Senate Pres. Tito Sotto clarified that he will only be suggesting it as he is not the chairman of the ethics committee. According to him, it is like a show cause order that would ask Dela Rosa to explain why the panel should not give in to the complaint.

Based on the post, Sotto claimed that Dela Rosa has yet to reach out to him since his long-time absence from the Senate began. Recently, it was confirmed that the Senate ethics committee has requested the Senator to answer to the complaints which includes his continuous receipt of his salary amid his absence.

“Hinihintay lang ng committee ‘yung response from the Senator dela Rosa,” Sen. JV Ejercito said.

Previously, known Duterte-ally Sen. Robin Padilla spoke on what will allegedly happen if Sen. Bato dela Rosa will be arrested in the Senate.
