Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Claims “Troll Farms” are Allegedly True
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President said the Filipinos should know how to discern with regards to the information that are circulating on social media.
Vice Pres. Duterte is the first to say that she will run for president in 2028. As for her running mate, she has yet to drop a name but she confirmed that she has already recruited someone last year and the person is still deciding about it.
The announcement of the Vice President to run in the next presidential elections came amid the impeachment complaints hurled against her. The House of Representatives’ Committee on Justice found two (2) out of four impeachment raps filed against Duterte as sufficient in form, substance, and grounds.
The House Justice panel has conducted four impeachment hearings. However, the Vice President skipped all four impeachment hearings. According to her lawyer, Atty. Michael Poa, she’s not obliged to appear before the panel.
Here are some of the grounds raised in the impeachment moves against Vice Pres. Duterte:
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount over PHP 500 million confidential funds (CF) allocated to the Office of the Vice President from 2022 to 2023
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount of not less than PHP 112.5 million of confidential funds allocated to the Department of Education (DepEd) for the year 2023
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust by corrupting and bribing officials of the DepEd
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in contracting to murder or assassinate the president, the first lady, and the former speaker of the House
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in amassing unexplained wealth and failing to disclose all her properties and interests in properties in her SALN
- Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in committing acts of political destabilization and the high crimes of sedition and insurrection
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is currently in The Hague, Netherlands where her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, is detained for more than a year now. He’s under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) as he faces allegations over his drug war.
Recently, following her visit to former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte inside the ICC detention facility, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte expressed a warning to the Filipino people over fake information that are circulating on social media. Based on news5, she claimed that “troll farms” are allegedly true.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed that politics is really dirty. Based on the post, she also recalled what former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte previously told the people in Davao City.
“Presumptive candidate na ako and ang pulitika ay madumi talaga ‘yan. Sabi nga ni PRRD noon, paulit-ulit ‘yan sa Davao City na ang style ng karamihan o maraming mga pulitiko ay you paint your enemy black so that you appear white,’” she expressed.
Vice Pres. Duterte said the Filipinos should know how to discern with regards to the information that they encounter online. According to her, there are really those whose business is allegedly spreading false information online.
“Pangalawa, kailangan… matuto ang mga Pilipino sa mga nakikita nila sa social media particularly because pwedeng ma manipulate ang information na lumalabas sa social media. Tulad na nga ng troll farms na naririnig ninyo… Meron talagang negosyo na ganun,’” Duterte said.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also claimed that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is now aware about the impeachment complaints against her.
