Robin Padilla Sparks Debate After Comparing Bato dela Rosa’s Issue to Andres Bonifacio’s Loyalty
ROBIN PADILLA – Senator Robin Padilla stirred strong reactions online after passionately defending Senator Bato dela Rosa amid reports of an alleged ICC arrest warrant.
Senator Robin Padilla strongly expressed his support for fellow Senator Ronald dela Rosa following reports that the International Criminal Court had allegedly issued an arrest warrant against the lawmaker.
In an interview on DWIZ on Saturday, May 9, Padilla said he could not bring himself to surrender dela Rosa as long as a foreign body was allegedly pursuing him. Because of this, he advised his partymate to avoid appearing in public for the meantime.
Rumors about an arrest warrant against dela Rosa first surfaced in November 2025. Since then, the senator has reportedly not been seen attending Senate sessions.
“Kung ang humahanap kay Bato ay Philippine law, ako pa ang magsu-surrender, pero hangga’t dayuhan, hindi kaya ng puso ko… Kapag ibinigay ko si Bato, nagtaksil na ako kay Andres Bonifacio,” the senator said.
Padilla further emphasized his stand against foreign intervention, saying, “Never—wag tayo magsusuko sa dayuhan. Never.”
When asked about his message to dela Rosa, Padilla assured the senator that he was always ready to help whenever needed.
“Ako naman ay ‘pag pinatawag mo ay dadating,” said Padilla.
The senator also revealed that he had recently met with dela Rosa and insisted that the latter was not a wanted person.
Meanwhile, Jonvic Remulla, secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, said they had not yet received any arrest warrant from the ICC, making the reports “hearsay” for now.
Earlier, in a document released by the Office of the Prosecutor of the ICC dated February 13, 2026, dela Rosa, Senator Bong Go, and others were directly named as alleged co-perpetrators of former President Rodrigo Duterte in connection with the administration’s controversial anti-drug campaign.
According to the ICC document, Duterte, dela Rosa, Go, and other alleged co-perpetrators supposedly agreed on a “Common Plan” to “neutralize” suspected criminals in the Philippines as part of the bloody war on drugs.
