Sen. Bato dela Rosa Attends Senate Session after 6-Month Absence
BATO DELA ROSA – The Philippine Senator revealed his reasons for going out to the public again through attending a Senate session.
The recent turn of events in the Senate shocked countless Filipinos — Sen. dela Rosa suddenly attended the session again after six (6) months and a change in leadership in the upper chamber took place. Sen. Tito Sotto was ousted from being the Senate president while Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano was elected as the Senate’s new chief.

A total of 13 votes from the senators declared the Senate presidency vacant. Nine (9) senators voted for Sotto to remain in the top post in the upper chamber and two (2) senators, Juan Miguel Zubiri and JV Ejercito, abstained from making a vote.
Prior to the unseating of now former Senate Pres. Tito Sotto, Sen. Bato dela Rosa came in rushing to the Senate. According to him, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) allegedly tried to run after him in the pursuit to arrest him in the Senate.

Sen. Bato dela Rosa came in furious. According to him, the NBI agents and former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV who was supposedly holding the arrest warrant against the former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief allegedly did not respect the chamber as an institution.
Dela Rosa took custody in the Senate amid a reported arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. The ICC is the same entity that now has the custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte over the Duterte drug war.

There were countless questions over Sen. Bato dela Rosa’s resurfacing. Many Filipinos speculate that it has something to do with the possible impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte — which, based on News5, he admitted.

Based on the post, Sen. Bato dela Rosa stressed that he has a duty as a senator judge. He also claimed that the change of the Senate leadership is part of the reasons he decided to appear in public again.
“Kasama na lahat pati ‘yung incoming impeachment, may trabaho tayo as senator judge, pati ‘yung pagpapalit ng leadership ng Senado. Kasama ‘yan sa mga rason (kung) bakit tayo lumabas,” the Senator said.
Sen. Bato dela Rosa also claimed that he already feels ashamed for receiving his salary amid being absent in the Senate sessions. According to him, he’s absence was allegedly due to a supposed threat against his freedom.
Senate Pres. Tito Sotto believes that his ouster may be due to the possible impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
