Boying Remulla stressed that Bato dela Rosa should be ashamed for hiding now

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Boying Remulla has condemned Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa for hiding to avoid an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Remulla stressed that what Dela Rosa is doing is shameful because as the former chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), he was the one who enforced the law but now he is running away from the law.

It can be recalled that Dela Rosa stayed in the Senate for three days, until the “shooting incident” happened. Then, he left at dawn on May 14, riding Senator Robin Padilla’s SUV.

“Dating chief ng Philippine National Police tumatakbo sa batas. Hindi ba siya nahihiya?” Boying Remulla said during his interview on “Executive Session” on DZRH, on Saturday, based on the article in Abante News.

According to the Ombudsman, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) served the arrest warrant on Dela Rosa on May 11 but instead of accepting it, he ran up the stairs to the Senate session hall. The Senator’s CCTV footage went viral showing that he almost stumbled on the stairs as he was running away from the NBI agents.

Chief of Philippine National Police kayo nagpapatupad ng batas ngayon tumatakbo ka sa batas. Eh ‘di walang ibig sabihin ang batas, ganun ba ‘yun?” Remulla said.

Based on reports, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has ordered the PNP and the NBI to arrest Dela Rosa. The NBI has officially classified Sen. Bato dela Rosa as “armed and dangerous”.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag clarified that this is a precautionary protocol for fugitive operations, noting that Dela Rosa’s extensive background in law enforcement makes tracking him highly difficult.

Reports also stated that the PNP has deployed specialized tracker teams nationwide. PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered that while tracking the senator, all personnel should exercise maximum tolerance, professionalism, and full respect for human rights.
