Sen. Imee Marcos Calls on Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano To Open Blue Ribbon Committee Now
IMEE MARCOS – The presidential Sister called on Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano to open the Blue Ribbon Committee.
The Senate once again had a change of leadership after 13 senators voted to declare the Senate Presidency vacant. Former Senate Pres. Tito Sotto was ousted and replaced with now-SP Alan Peter Cayetano who is the former minority bloc leader.

Former Senate Pres. Tito Sotto believes that his ouster is probably related to the possible impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Sen. Bato dela Rosa who was absent for six months returned to the Senate that day to vote. He has gone into hiding again following a recent controversial incident in the Senate.
Sotto stressed that there is always a risk of a Senate president being ousted. He has always been vocal about his belief that an impeachment trial should start “forthwith”. He previously claimed that he already sought the help of his justice friends.

Following the unexpected revamp in the Senate, the Blue Ribbon Committee chairmanship is given to Senator Pia Cayetano. It was previously led by former Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson.
Amid the tension in the Senate, presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos called on Senate Pres. Alan Peter Cayetano to open the Blue Ribbon Committee now. She also called for the removal of the alleged cover on the flood control corruption.

“Tinatawagan ko ang aming Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, buksan na ang Blue Ribbon Committee. Tanggalin lahat ng takip sa Flood Control Corruption. Ipatawag ang 18 Marines, si Zaldy Co, ang mga Bersamin. Ilabas na ang katotohanan,” Marcos said based on the post.
Several government officials were tagged in the supposed flood control corruption. Even the President himself was implicated. Former House of Representatives’ Budget Appropriations Committee chairman Zaldy Co claimed that Marcos Jr. and then House Speaker Martin Romualdez allegedly received kickbacks.

Previously, then-Senate President Pro Tempore and chairman of the Blue Ribbon Committee Ping Lacson claimed that there is allegedly more than one mastermind in the flood control corruption in the country.
