Authorities Arrest Motorcycle Theft Suspect After Two Children Alert Owner
A motorcycle theft was arrested in Quezon City after two children caught him stealing the motorcycle and alerted the owner.
On Monday morning, May 25, 2026, a 35-year-old man was arrested after he was allegedly caught stealing a motorcycle and later found carrying an unlicensed firearm. The incident happened along Seattle Street in Barangay Kaunlaran, Cubao, shortly after 9:00 a.m.
According to police authorities, two children who were staying near the area noticed the suspect taking a parked motorcycle. Since they personally knew the owner of the vehicle, they immediately informed him about what they saw.
After learning about the situation, the motorcycle owner quickly rushed outside his house. At that moment, the suspect was already attempting to leave the area with the stolen motorcycle. The victim then immediately called for police assistance.
Fortunately, motorcycle patrol officers assigned to the area quickly responded to the report. Authorities were able to stop and arrest the suspect before he could completely escape.
According to Cubao Police Station commander PLt. Col. Joy Leanza, the suspect’s alleged method involved roaming around different neighborhoods while looking for motorcycles parked along the roadside.
Once he spotted an opportunity, he would reportedly tamper with the vehicle and try to drive it away unnoticed.
Investigators also discovered that the suspect allegedly brought stolen motorcycles to nearby areas such as Marikina and Antipolo to sell them.
Police recovered the stolen motorcycle along with a .38 caliber firearm loaded with bullets. Authorities said the suspect failed to present legal documents for the weapon. Records also showed that he previously faced cases related to carnapping and unjust vexation.
Despite the evidence recovered, the suspect denied all accusations against him, including ownership of the gun and involvement in the motorcycle theft.
He is currently being held at the custodial facility of Cubao Police Station while authorities prepare the proper charges against him.
Many residents praised the two children for their alertness and quick action, saying their courage helped prevent the suspect from escaping.
