Authorities Arrest Housemaid for Stealing Over P2.4 Million Worth of Cash & Jewelry From Employer
A 31-year-old house helper was arrested after allegedly stealing more than P2.4 million worth of cash and jewelry from her employer in Quezon City.
On May 26, 2026, the incident happened inside a house in Barangay Bagumbayan. The Quezon City Police District said that the female suspect, a resident of Barangay Maybunga in Pasig City, allegedly entered the room of her employer and took a large amount of money along with several expensive pieces of jewelry.
The stolen cash reportedly reached P1,002,500. Aside from the money, several valuable items were also reported missing.
These included five pairs of earrings worth P820,000, four necklaces valued at P300,000, one bracelet worth P220,000, and two pendants amounting to P70,000. The total value of the stolen items reached P2,412,500.
Police investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly placed the jewelry inside a paper bag before handing it over to an unidentified man. Authorities are now continuing their investigation to identify and locate the person who may have received the stolen items.
The employer later discovered that the cash and jewelry were missing and confronted the house helper regarding the incident. During the confrontation, the suspect reportedly admitted her involvement in the theft.
The matter was immediately reported to the Eastwood Police Station. Police officers then conducted an operation that led to the arrest of the suspect at around 11:30 p.m. on the same day.
Despite the arrest, authorities said the stolen money and jewelry have not yet been recovered. Efforts are still ongoing to locate the missing valuables and determine whether other individuals were involved in the incident.
The suspect is now facing a qualified theft complaint, a serious offense involving theft committed by a person trusted by the victim, such as a household employee.
