Palace Speaks on Marcos Jr. after Guteza Clears Romualdez from Flood Control Allegations
MARCOS JR. – Malacañang admitted that the President is aware that Orly Guteza has recanted his testimony against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Orly Guteza who Senator Rodante Marcoleta previously called as the “most credible witness ever” recently changed his stand against his previous claim over the flood control mess. The former marine who is also a former aide of Zaldy Co was one of those who testified in the Senate flood control probe in 2025.
Guteza claimed that he was allegedly one of the aide of Zaldy Co who were tasked to deliver suitcases filled with money for former House Speaker Martin Romualdez. He was previously invited in the other hearings of the Senate but he did not appear.
Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez stepped down from the House speakership amid the allegations that link him to the flood control mess. According to the presidential Cousin, he wants the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI to be able to exercise their mandate to investigate without undue influence.
Zaldy Co who is allegedly one of the biggest role players in the flood control mess previously tagged former House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the flood control mess. According to him, they allegedly received billions of kickback.
Co remains at large amid the accusations against him and the strong call for him to return to the Philippines and face the allegations. Malacañang defended Marcos Jr. saying that the former Congressman supposedly wants the investigation to stop so he tagged the President.
Recently, Orly Guteza recanted his claims against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez. According to him, Sen. Rodante Marcoleta and former House lawmaker Mike Defensor were allegedly behind his testimony.
Malacañang spoke on the recantation of Orly Guteza of his claims against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Based on Philippine Star, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro admitted that Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is aware of it.
“Parte ito ng balita kagabi so hindi naman po nahuhuli ang Pangulo sa mga balita. Wala siyang reaksyon na binigay sa atin,” Castro said.
Furthermore, based on the post, the Palace official stressed that what Marcos Jr. wants is always to be aligned with the law. According to her, the President does not want made-up evidence.
“Ang nais naman po ng Pangulo ay laging ayon sa batas, hindi gawa-gawang ebidensya. Kung totoong mapapatunayan na siya ay gumawa lang ng mga kwento, hindi naman din ‘to makakabuti sa pagpupursue sa mga tao na dapat managot,” she expressed.
Previously, during his latest State of the Nation Address, Marcos Jr. announced that piles of charges are about to be filed against former House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos chided PBBM’s remarks against their cousin, former Speaker Martin Romualdez.
