Woman Frightened After Finding Large Cockroach Inside Her Ear During Medical Checkup
A woman in Romblon shared her frightening experience after finding a large cockroach inside her ear, which causes her to hear strange sounds.
The woman sought medical help after noticing unusual noises coming from inside her ear. Concerned about what might be causing the discomfort, she visited Dr. Erwin Geroleo Jr., an internal medicine specialist.
Upon hearing the patient’s symptoms, the doctor immediately considered the possibility that an insect had entered her ear. After carefully examining her, his suspicion was confirmed. A large cockroach had indeed made its way inside while she was asleep.
“Para hindi gumasgas yung mga part ng insect na puwedeng mag-cause ng wounds doon sa loob ng tainga,” Geroleo said.
To safely remove the insect, the doctor first had to stop it from moving. He used warm baby oil to immobilize the cockroach and prevent it from scratching the sensitive parts of the ear canal. This step helped reduce the risk of injuries that could have been caused by the insect’s legs or body parts.
Fortunately, the cockroach was located near the opening of the ear, making it easier to remove. Using forceps, the doctor successfully pulled it out in one piece. Surprisingly, the insect was still alive when it was removed.
After the procedure, the doctor carefully checked the woman’s ear for any signs of injury or infection. Thankfully, no scratches, wounds, or infections were found, and the patient did not suffer any lasting damage.
The doctor believes that the condition of the woman’s home may have contributed to the incident. Her house reportedly had holes in the walls, and her sleeping area did not have a mosquito net.
