Cops Arrest 2 Akyat-Bahay Friends for Breaking Into Teacher’s Home
Two Akyat-Bahay friends were arrested after allegedly breaking into the home of a teacher and stealing several valuables in Quezon City.
On August 18, 2026, the victim was having a meal inside their house in Barangay Baesa when the incident happened.
According to Talipapa Police Station chief Lt. Col. Von Alejandrino, the teacher suddenly heard unusual sounds coming from the room and decided to check it. When the victim opened the door, signs of forced entry were immediately noticed.
The window was open, and the curtain had been pulled down onto the bed. After a few moments, the teacher spotted two men dressed in dark clothing inside the room and quickly shouted for help.
“Pagbukas niya sa pinto, gulat na lang siya bukas ‘yung bintana tsaka kurtina niya ay laglag na sa kama… So nung lumingon siya sa bandang kanan niya, nakita niya ‘tong dalawang tao naka-long sleeve, naka-itim na damit. Bigla siya sumigaw, ‘Magnanakaw, magnanakaw!’” Alejandrino said.
The suspects immediately escaped by jumping out of the same window they had allegedly used to enter the house. The incident was quickly reported to local authorities with the help of barangay officials.
CCTV footage gathered during the investigation helped police identify the suspects. One of them, a 20-year-old man carrying a sling bag, was allegedly seen leaving with the victim’s cellphone.
Another suspect, aged 23, was captured carrying a laptop bag believed to contain the stolen laptop. Aside from the cellphone and laptop, the suspects also allegedly took cash worth P10,000 and a pair of eyeglasses.
Police launched a hot pursuit operation and successfully arrested both suspects the following morning, in Barangay Baesa. Authorities were able to recover the stolen cellphone and laptop. However, the missing cash and eyeglasses were no longer recovered.
Investigators also discovered that the older suspect had previous records involving theft in 2024 and an illegal drug-related case in 2025. While he initially denied any involvement, police said he later admitted to the crime. The younger suspect chose not to give a statement and said he would explain his side in court.

The two suspects are now being held at the Talipapa Police Station custodial facility and are facing robbery charges as legal proceedings move forward.
