Teacher Found Revolver From Possession of 14-Year-Old Student During Surprise School Bag Inspection
A 14-year-old student was found carrying a revolver during a surprise school bag inspection in Pinamungajan, Cebu.
On Thursday (August 20, 2026), the student found carrying an unloaded .357 Smith & Wesson Magnum revolver after a surprise bag inspection conducted by a teacher. The incident happened at Lut-od National High School in Barangay Lut-od.
The firearm was discovered at around 3:15 in the afternoon when the student’s Grade 9 adviser carried out a routine inspection of students’ bags as part of the school’s safety measures.

After finding the revolver, the teacher immediately informed the school administration. The school head then contacted the Pinamungajan Municipal Police Station for assistance. Responding police officers arrived at the school and recovered the firearm from the student’s bag.
Authorities later confirmed that the revolver did not contain any ammunition. Based on the initial investigation, the student allegedly took the firearm from a cabinet inside their home. Police said the gun belonged to the student’s grandfather and had been stored there before it was brought to school.
The minor, who was classified as a Child in Conflict with the Law, was accompanied by his grandparents during the investigation. Reports said his mother works in Cebu City while his father is employed in Manila.

The student was turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office while authorities continue to look into the case and determine the circumstances surrounding the possession of the firearm.
Police officials praised the teacher and school personnel for their alertness and quick response. Authorities said their immediate action helped prevent any possible danger and ensured the safety of students and staff.
School security measures across Cebu have recently been strengthened following the shooting incident at Ateneo de Zamboanga University earlier this week. Local officials and law enforcement agencies continue to work closely with schools to maintain a safe learning environment for students throughout the province.
