House Collapses After Being Swept by Rushing Floodwaters in Lubao, Pampanga
A house in Barangay Sto. Cristo, Lubao, Pampanga was destroyed and carried away by strong floodwaters due to heavy rains.
On Friday, August 28, 2026, Lubao and nearby areas were experiencing intense rainfall brought by the southwest monsoon, which was further enhanced by a low-pressure area. Water levels quickly rose, creating dangerous conditions for residents living near waterways.
A strong current coming from the direction of Sta. Rita Dam caused the house to collapse before it was swept away by the rushing floodwaters. The force of the water destroyed the structure within a short period of time.
According to the person who shared the video online, the dam overflowed after accumulated debris, including garbage and pieces of wood, allegedly blocked parts of the waterway. The obstruction may have contributed to the sudden increase in water flow, leading to the dangerous flooding in the area.
Despite the destruction, there was one piece of good news. The homeowner and other occupants were able to evacuate before the house finally gave way. Because they left the area on time, no injuries or casualties were reported.
Local residents continue to monitor the situation as authorities keep watch on water levels and weather conditions. Many families are also hoping that the weather will improve soon to prevent further damage and ensure the safety of communities affected by the flooding.
