Proposed Budget of VP Sara Duterte’s Office for 2027 Includes Fund for Disaster Response

SARA DUTERTE – The Office of the Vice President is requesting for a P785.2 million budget under the 2027 National Expenditure Program (NEP).

Amid the ongoing impeachment trial of the Vice President, her office has already prepared its proposed budget for 2027. Vice Pres. Duterte has yet to attend at least once in her impeachment trial. According to her, she cannot help in the process and she has enough lawyers to defend her and do their duties.

“Hindi totoo ‘yon… Fully-represented ako nung ating Defense team… Hindi naman ako abogado para sa impeachment doon so wala akong matutulong doon sa proseso,” the Vice President said.

Duterte’s previous remarks came after Akbayan Citizens’ Action Party National Pres. Rafaela David challenged her to show up in the impeachment trial if she wants to speed up the process. The same call was junked by her elder brother, Davao Congressman Paolo Duterte.

According to Cong. Paolo Duterte, his sister’s act of not attending the impeachment trial does not mean that she is evading accountability. He also recently stressed that their family is ready for the investigation on corruption but the probe should not be selective.

Recently, amid the impeachment issues, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s office unveiled their requested budget for 2027. Based on News5, the OVP is asking for P785.2 million under the National Expenditure Program (NEP) for next year.

Based on the post, the P785.2 million budget proposed by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s office for 2027 is 11.7% lower than the OVP’s current budget. Under the 2026 NEP, the Vice President’s Office was granted P889.2 million. Her budget proposal includes funding for disaster response, libreng sakay, and wheelchair distribution.

Duterte has not been requesting for confidential and intelligence funds the accusations of alleged misuse of the said type of funds hurled her. It is among the grounds raised in the impeachment moves against the Vice President.

  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount over PHP 500 million confidential funds (CF) allocated to the Office of the Vice President from 2022 to 2023
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in amassing and converting the amount of not less than PHP 112.5 million of confidential funds allocated to the Department of Education (DepEd) for the year 2023
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust by corrupting and bribing officials of the DepEd
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes in contracting to murder or assassinate the president, the first lady, and the former speaker of the House
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in amassing unexplained wealth and failing to disclose all her properties and interests in properties in her SALN
  • Alleged culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust in committing acts of political destabilization and the high crimes of sedition and insurrection

Recently, amid an ongoing impeachment trial, an aide of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the VP allegedly personally requested the P125 million confidential funds.
