Here’s the weather forecast from PAGASA for the month of September.
PAGASA WEATHER FORECAST – The country may face two to three tropical cyclones this September, according to the agency’s latest outlook.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasted that two to three tropical cyclones are expected to enter or develop within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in September.
The weather bureau’s forecast comes as the country continues to experience the peak months of the annual tropical cyclone season. As per the update, the expected weather disturbances could affect the country at varying degrees depending on their strength, movement, and proximity to land.
Moreover, PAGASA expects a decrease in tropical cyclone activity in the months ahead, according to PAGASA Assistant Weather Services Chief Jorybell Masallo.
Speaking on state television PTV’s Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon, Masallo said, “Sa September inaasahan natin ‘yang two or three na magkakaroon tayo ng bagyo at hanggang sa mga susunod po na buwan ay mga isa or dalawa.”
However, fewer storms do not necessarily mean the country will experience consistently favorable weather. The possibility of heavy rain, flooding, and other weather-related hazards remains.
Masallo also warned that the country could experience less rainfall in the first quarter of 2027 due to the possible effects of the El Niño phenomenon. This could affect the country’s water resources and potentially lead to dry spells and drought.
“’Yun nga ‘yung pinapangambahan natin na maaaring sa susunod na first quarter ng taon ay hindi tayo masyadong makakaranas ng mga pag-uulan at maging itong pagkakaroon natin ng bagyo,” she expressed.
This prompted Masallo to encourage the people to be prepared for both extremes in weather, such as possible prolonged dry conditions and sudden episodes of heavy rain.
