Janus del Prado Challenges Critics After Death Threat Over Jimmy Bondoc Joke
JANUS DEL PRADO – The actor said he received death threats after making a joke about singer and lawyer Jimmy Bondoc in a social media post.
The issue began when Janus shared a message for people preparing to take the Bar exams. He jokingly told them not to be nervous, using Bondoc, who passed the Bar, as an example.
The post received mixed reactions online, with some people criticizing Janus, including several lawyers. He later shared a message from a dummy account that appeared to threaten him and challenged him to meet in person.

Janus responded with sarcasm and continued to defend his post. He also questioned the lawyers who criticized him, asking whether they felt personally affected by his joke.
The actor also responded to those who accused him of using the controversy to gain attention because he is no longer active in show business. Janus pointed out that many of his critics are also active on social media, despite being lawyers.
He further questioned what he described as a double standard among some members of the legal profession. According to Janus, people who freely criticize others online should also be able to accept jokes or criticism when they become the subject themselves.

Janus said he appreciated his lawyer friends who understood the humor behind his post. However, he acknowledged that some of them believed the joke was hurtful because of the way it was presented.
Despite the criticism and threats, Janus stood by his position that jokes can include criticism and should not always be taken personally. He also stressed that his post was not specifically directed at the people who became upset by it.
