BFP Expresses Dismay to False Fire Alarm at Puerto Princesa School

The Puerto Princesa City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) quickly responded to a false fire alarm at a school along Rizal Avenue.

On Friday, October 2, 2026, BFP responded to a reported fire at a school only to discover that the emergency call was a prank.

According to authorities, the report was received around noon, prompting firefighters to treat the situation as a serious emergency. Responders immediately mobilized resources to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff.

False Fire Alarm

The City Fire Station dispatched three fire trucks to the area without delay. However, upon arriving at the school, firefighters found no signs of fire. The report was later confirmed to be a false alarm.

The incident caused unnecessary disruption for emergency personnel who had rushed to the scene expecting a real emergency. Fire officials explained that every fire report is treated with urgency because delays in responding to actual incidents can put lives and property at risk.

Authorities also discovered that the same individual suspected of making the false fire report may have been involved in a fake food delivery booking.

A delivery rider reportedly arrived at the school around the same time as the firefighters. Initial findings showed that the phone number used to contact the BFP matched the number used for the food delivery order.

The BFP expressed concern over the misuse of emergency services and reminded the public that prank calls can have serious consequences. When responders are sent to fake emergencies, valuable time, manpower, and equipment are taken away from real incidents where help may be urgently needed.

The BFP and the Philippine National Police are now working together to identify the person responsible for the prank call and fake booking. Authorities said individuals who intentionally spread false fire reports may face legal consequences under the Fire Code of the Philippines.
