VP Sara Duterte mentioned the 2028 elections
Vice President Sara Duterte shared that her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman, told her to let her brother, Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, run in the national elections.
It will be recalled that VP Sara first announced her intention to run for the presidency last February. She was the first politician to express her intention for the 2028 elections.
Her early announcement garnered various reactions from Filipinos, but it definitely made her supporters happy.

However, Vice President Sara Duterte is currently facing an impeachment trial in the Senate. Reports stated that Mayor Baste said in earlier statements that the impeachment against his sister is a political move intended to block her presidential bid in 2028.
In a recent statement based on the video shared by Abante News, VP Sara shared that her mother told her to go home and just let Mayor Baste run for the next national elections.

“Nagsabi talaga yung nanay ko, na pinapauwi niya ako sa Davao at si Baste na lang daw ang patakbuhin sa national elections,” the Vice President said, adding that within their family, this was what her mother said to her, to let her brother handle the national.
However, VP Sara Duterte clarified that she and Mayor Baste Duterte have not yet formally discussed his possible run for President.
Meanwhile, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes accused a foundation associated with VP Sara of receiving funds from China. Allegedly, the amount has reached P150 million.
Trillanes was supposed to testify at the impeachment trial against VP Sara, but the initial plan changed. Instead, he held a press conference in which he made allegations against VP Sara.
“Tumanggap sila ng P150 million from the People’s Republic of China. Itong foundation ni Sara Duterte, nakatanggap siya,” the former Senator said.
