Police Officers Help Woman Look for Relatives at Cemetery, Only to Find Out They’re Still Alive

Two police officers ended up checking the names on tombs while helping a woman look for her relatives at a cemetery, only to learn that the people she was looking for are still alive.

The funny mix-up was caught on video and posted on Instagram by user Lyn Bacale (@lynnepiests) on November 2, 2026, during the Undas observance. The clip has since gone viral, gathering more than 298,000 likes and nearly 1,500 comments.

In the video, the officers approached the woman and asked who she was looking for. She answered, “‘Yung kapatid saka hipag ko, ‘yung mag-asawa,” (My sibling and my sibling-in-law, the married couple).

When asked where the two were, she reportedly said they were just inside the cemetery and gave their names as Lea and Ronnie, Abante TNT reported.

The officers then walked with her and offered to help. At one point, one of them could be seen reading the names written on the tombs.

Upon noticing this, the woman quickly corrected them, saying “Hindi, hindi diyan patay! Buhay ‘yon!” (No, not there, they’re not dead! They’re alive!).

The two officers could not help but laugh and jokingly replied, “Hindi mo naman, Nay, nilinaw agad. Naghanap kami sa nitso.” (You didn’t make it clear right away, Ma’am. We were searching the tombs.)

In her caption, the uploader wrote, “Dimo naman nilinaw nay buhay pa yung hinahanap mo HaHaHa,” (You didn’t make it clear, Ma’am, that the people you’re looking for are still alive).

Many netizens were amused by the confusion. One social media user quipped, “Hinanap agad ay, hindi nagtanong kung buhay o patay,” (They searched right away without asking if they were alive or dead).

Police personnel were deployed to cemeteries nationwide during Undas 2026 to assist visitors and maintain peace and order as millions of Filipinos visited the graves of their departed loved ones.
