AI Voice-Over Prayer During Bulacan Procession Elicits Reactions Online
The alleged AI voice used for prayer during a procession in Meycauayan, Bulacan received various reactions online.
Recently, Rex Soria, a netizen, shared a video of what appeared to be an AI-assisted rosary during a Good Friday procession. The post quickly went viral and gained various reactions from the online community.
Many people began discussing the use of artificial intelligence in such an important religious tradition, especially during Holy Week. The focus was not on the procession itself, but on the unusual way the prayer was delivered.
“Pero, yung the rest, yung before nun at yung last part ng prusisyon may aktwal or talagang tao yung nagdadasal,” Soria said.
Some viewers felt that the use of an AI voice made the prayer sound less sincere. The mechanical tone seemed to remove the emotion and meaning behind the act of praying. They believed that a real person leading the prayer would have made it more heartfelt.
However, some netizens understood that using a recorded or AI-generated voice could make things easier, especially during long processions. Still, even some of those who understood the convenience said it would have been better to use a real human voice recording instead of something that sounded artificial.
“Yes, actually may narinig ako na ‘bakit ganun?’ Lalo yung mga matatandang nandoon. Yung mga nakinood lang sa mga gilid gilid ng kalsada. So, narinig ko lang, bakit ganun? ‘Ba’t AI generated na?,” he explained.
“Dapat pag ganong, pangyayari which is nasa Holy Week tayo, or in this season ngayon, dapat seryoso pa rin tayo. Pwedeng mag-recorded na normal na tao. Pero, yung AI generated parang hindi ako ano… doon talaga,” he added.
The online users are now waiting for clarification from local officials in Barangay Calvario. It remains unclear whether the voice used was truly AI-generated or simply a recorded voice that sounded mechanical.
