Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes Speaks on Former VP and Now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo over 2028 Presidential Election
ANTONIO TRILLANES – The former Senator slammed the alleged “nonchalant” stance of former Vice President and Naga Mayor Leni Robredo over the possible Duterte presidency in 2028.
Amid the impeachment complaints hurled against her, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte announced that she will run for the presidency in the 2028 Elections. Undeniably, her announcement was followed by the speculations and talks about the possible strongest bet against her.
Former Senator and now Mamamayang Liberal partylist Representative Leila de Lima believes that former VP and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo is still the best candidate for the presidency from the opposition. Thus, she is hoping that Robredo will change her mind and take the presidential run.
The opposition has previously met but none of them openly talked about the 2028 Elections. Both former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo and Senator Bam Aquino stressed that they are focusing in their current work.
Naga Mayor Leni Robredo previously stressed that it seems like a “disservice” to the people of Naga City if she will talk about the 2028 Elections now. She stressed that she just assumed the post as the city mayor and there are a lot of work that needs to be done.
Furthermore, Robredo also admitted her belief that if you will talk about the upcoming election, it allegedly means that the focus will be there and not in the present. She stressed that she is not a politician who has already set her plans in politics.
Amid former Vice President and Naga Mayor Leni Robredo refusing to talk much about the 2028 Elections for president, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes who is also a member of the opposition slammed the alleged “nonchalant” stance of Robredo. Based on a report on One News, Trillanes claimed that it is allegedly weakening the position of the opposition.
Speaking on “Long Conversation: The View From Manila”, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes stressed that former Vice President and now Naga Mayor Leni Robredo appears focused in her role as mayor. He stressed that Robredo has yet to express urgency over the alleged long-term political threat posed by Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
Based on the report, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes claimed that Naga Mayor Leni Robredo must allegedly declare if she intends to run for president in 2028. According to him, her stance supposedly affects even the positions of the opposition senators.
“But if she’s going to rule out any scenario that she’ll run in 2028, she has to be definitive because (Senators) Bam (Aquino) and Risa (Hontiveros) will not grow. She will have to be definitive and the fact that she isn’t definitive leads me to conclude that she is really interested,” the former Senator said.
