PH Authorities Yet To Arrest Atong Ang over Missing Sabungeros Case
ATONG ANG – The Department of Justice (DOJ) believes that the wanted businessman is still in the Philippines despite the previous claim of Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla.
Amid the P10 million reward on the information that could lead to the arrest of controversial business Charlie “Atong” Ang, he remains at large. He is accused as the alleged mastermind in the disappearance of several cockfighting enthusiasts.
The families of the missing sabungeros continue to call for justice over the disappearance of their loved ones. Previously, former actress Gretchen Barretto’s name was also dragged in the case. It is no secret to the public that Barretto and Ang are friends and business partners. They were even romantically-linked in the past.
Last December, the Department of Justice (DOJ) junked the charges filed against former actress Gretchen Barretto. Recently, an arrest warrant was issued against controversial businessman Atong Ang.
Aside from Atong Ang, arrest warrants were also released against the following individuals linked to the case of the missing sabungeros:

- Ronquillo Anding
- Police Senior Master Sergeant (PSMS) Joey Encarnacion

- Police Master Sergeant (PMSg) Michael Claveria
- PSMS Mark Anthony Manrique
- PSMS Anderson Abary
- Police Staff Sergeant (PSSG) Edmon Munoz
- PSSG Alfredo Andres
- Police Major Philip Almedilla
- Police Lt. Henry Sasaluya
- Police Chief Master Sergeant Arturo dela Cruz
- PSMS Farvy dela Cruz
- Police Corporal Angel Martin
- Emman Falle

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) previously claimed that all 17 individuals mentioned above are already under the custody of the Philippine authorities. Only Ang remains at large.
Yesterday, DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla claimed that Atong Ang is possibly in Cambodia or Thailand. His statement came after whistleblower Julie Patidongan claimed that the online sabong allegedly operates in Cambodia, too.
Amid the claim of DILG chief Jonvic Remulla that the wanted businessman is possibly either in Cambodia or Thailand, according to News5, the Department of Justice expressed its belief that Atong Ang is still in the Philippines. DOJ spokesperson Atty. Polo Martinez stressed that there is no record in the Bureau of Immigration (BI) that Ang has left the country.
Based on the post, despite the lack of record, the DOJ also does not dismiss the possibility that Ang might have used a backdoor exit to fly abroad.
Previously, the DOJ reacted to the advice of the lawyer of Atong Ang for him not to surrender to the authorities despite the presence of an arrest warrant against him.
