CCTV Captures Attempted Abduction of 11-Year-Old Girl in Manila
An attempted abduction involving an 11-year-old girl during a quiet morning in Sta. Ana, Manila, was captured on CCTV.
The girl had been asked to buy food when a man wearing a white shirt noticed her along the street in Barangay 905, Punta. Instead of passing by, he began following her closely. Footage showed him trailing the child as she walked toward a nearby eatery.
At first, nothing seemed unusual, but the situation quickly changed as the man continued to stay near her.
Barangay officials later shared that the suspect approached the girl and spoke to her in a convincing way. He offered promises that caught the child’s attention, including food, money, and items supposedly coming from her mother.
“May binulong sa kaniya… ang sinabi nga, may ibibigay daw ‘yung nanay para sa kaniya at bibigyan siya ng pera, at the same time bibigyan siya ng pagkain. Parang mga pinangako,” Barangay Kagawad Edwin Zambrona said.
Because of this, the girl slowly went along with him without realizing the danger.
In another CCTV clip, the man was seen walking beside the child while pushing a bicycle. As they reached another area, he managed to get her to ride with him.
“Parang hipnotismo. I don’t know kung anong klaseng ginawa doon sa bata. Hindi natin alam kung sexual offender ba ‘yung tao na ‘yun o ano pa man,” he added.
The girl’s father later learned that a friend spotted his daughter riding with the suspect. Sensing something was wrong, the man immediately stopped and confronted them. When asked, the child said she did not know the man.
It forced the suspect to let her go before quickly escaping the scene. The child later explained that she believed the man because of the promises he made, especially since her mother lives far away. Her father now makes sure she is never outside without an adult.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspect. Meanwhile, local officials are urging parents to remind their children to stay alert and avoid strangers at all times.
