Kagawad Allegedly Uses Barangay Rescue Vehicle in Rizal, Palawan for Personal Trips

A barangay rescue vehicle at Barangay Campung Ulay in Rizal, Palawan was allegedly being used by a barangay kagawap for personal trips.

According to the complainant, the rescue vehicle, which was provided by the Municipal Government of Rizal to help respond to emergencies and accidents, was allegedly being used by a barangay official and the official’s spouse for personal activities.

The resident claimed that this was not the first time the vehicle had been used for purposes unrelated to public service.

The issue gained attention after the resident reportedly took photos and videos showing a barangay kagawad and the official’s spouse using the rescue vehicle during a trip connected to a court hearing at the Trial Court in Quezon, Palawan on August 18, 2026.

The resident believes that using a government vehicle for personal matters is inappropriate, especially when it is intended for emergency situations.

The complainant also revealed that the rescue vehicle is often seen parked at the residence of the barangay captain instead of being stationed at the barangay hall, where it is expected to be readily available.

This situation has reportedly caused frustration among some residents who depend on the vehicle during emergencies.

According to the resident, there have been several incidents in the community where emergency response was delayed because the rescue vehicle could not be located or was unavailable when needed.

It has raised concerns about public safety and the proper management of government resources.

Another point raised by the complainant was that although the vehicle has an assigned official driver, the barangay kagawad was allegedly the one driving it when the photos were taken.

As of this writing, the leadership of Barangay Campung Ulay has yet to release an official statement regarding the allegations.
