Barangay Tanod Injured After Motorcycle Hits Him While Assisting Students

A barangay tanod was injured after being hit by a motorcycle while helping students cross the road in General Trias City, Cavite.

On Thursday morning (October 15, 2026), the tanod was performing his duty of assisting students on their way to school along Barangay San Francisco.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed him stepping onto the road ahead of the students to help them cross safely when a motorcycle suddenly approached and struck him.

The impact caused the tanod to fall onto the road, leaving him with injuries to his feet. The incident raised concerns about road safety, especially during the morning rush when many students and other pedestrians are making their way to school and work.

According to barangay officials, the motorcycle rider reportedly failed to stop after hitting the tanod. The rider also did not go to the barangay hall to report the incident or coordinate with local officials.

Barangay Captain Ryan Santor said their office remains open to the rider, giving the individual an opportunity to come forward and discuss what happened. However, he explained that the barangay would take the necessary legal steps if the rider continued to ignore the incident and failed to contact them.

The barangay also plans to report the matter to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) for appropriate action.

The incident emphasizes the risks faced by barangay tanods who help manage traffic and protect students crossing busy roads. Their presence is especially important during school hours, when children need extra assistance to reach their destinations safely.

Authorities are expected to take the appropriate steps regarding the incident, while barangay officials are giving the rider a chance to coordinate with them.
