Barangay Tanod Lost His Life After Alleged Love Triangle Turns Violent in Ormoc City
A barangay tanod in Ormoc City, Leyte was killed after allegedly catching his life-in partner having an affair with his fellow village watchman.
According to police reports, a 35-year-old barangay tanod was on his way to pick up his live-in partner after an event in Purok 5, Barangay Labrador. Instead of taking his usual route, he reportedly used a shortcut that passed near the house of a fellow village watchman.
While passing by the area, the suspect allegedly noticed something that made him suspicious. Reports said he later discovered his live-in partner together with a 55-year-old chief tanod, who was also his co-worker and acquaintance.
Authorities said the situation quickly turned violent, ending in a stabbing incident. The chief tanod sustained serious injuries and died as a result of the attack.
The woman involved in the incident was also injured and was immediately brought to a hospital for treatment. She remains under medical care as she recovers from her wounds.
Police investigators said the suspect suffered minor injuries on his hand during the struggle. After the incident, he voluntarily surrendered to authorities and is now under police custody.
According to investigators, the suspect admitted that he became overwhelmed by anger after what he had witnessed. He also reportedly said that he never expected to see the two people involved because both were close to him.
The suspect is currently being held at the local police station while legal proceedings continue. Authorities have filed murder and frustrated murder charges against him.
