Davao Mayor Baste Duterte has taken the presidency of the PDP-Laban, the political party chaired by his own father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He is also set to lead the Reform Alliance for Good Governance and Accountability or the RAGE coalition.

The PDP-Laban was previously led by Senator Robin Padilla who took a leave in the middle of 2025 to focus in his legislative duties. According to the Senator, he prayed that a member of the Duterte family will lead the group.
The RAGE coalition was also launched and it gathered several government officials. Aside from Davao Mayor Baste Duterte, senators Robin Padilla and Christopher “Bong” Go were also present at the event.

In his video message based on the post, Sen. Bato dela Rosa also expressed his support for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who supposedly continues serving the country despite the challenges that she is facing. According to him, he will not allow the silencing of the government officials who are serving the country through politics.
“At higit sa lahat, patuloy akong sumusuporta, VP Inday Sara Duterte, na patuloy na nagsisilbi sa ating bansa sa kabila ng mga hamon at pagsubok ng kanyang kinakaharap. Hindi tayo papayag na gamitin ang pulitika para patahimikin ang mga lider na tunay na naglilingkod sa bayan,” the Senator added.

At the event, Sen. Robin Padilla also spoke and hinted that not only Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is seemingly running for president in a future election but as well as Davao Mayor Baste Duterte.
