PNP says no special treatment for Senator Bato Dela Rosa.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said that Senator Bato Dela Rosa will not receive any special treatment on his ICC arrest.
Previously, the International Criminal Court (ICC) confirmed the arrest warrant against Senator Bato Dela Rosa. It has been revealed that it was originally issued in November 2025. To recall, he served as the chief of the Philippine National Police from 2016 to 2018 and became a significant figure behind the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.
In a recent report, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said that the senator, now considered a fugitive, won’t receive any special treatment when it comes to serving the arrest warrant from the ICC.
PNP chief PGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stressed that any police action involving Dela Rosa would be carried out in accordance with the law, despite the senator’s close connection to the organization as a former chief of the national police force.
“The Philippine National Police operates strictly on legal frameworks and our sworn oath to serve and protect, meaning no individual is above the law regardless of rank or title,” Nartatez said in a statement.
The PNP is already working closely with other government agencies to ensure the proper and orderly execution of any legal process involving the senator. Nartatez also urged police personnel to stay disciplined amid the heightened public attention surrounding the case.
“We expect all officers to uphold standard operating procedures without fear or favor, and we explicitly appeal to Senator Dela Rosa’s enduring sense of duty as a lifelong law enforcer to cooperate fully with the legal process,” he said.
At the same time, the PNP confirmed on Wednesday that the firearm licenses of Dela Rosa have been revoked amid his ICC arrest warrant. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) had requested the revocation of the 118 allegedly registered firearms under his name.
These include semi-automatic and select-fire rifles, UZI submachine gun variants, high-powered .338 caliber rifles, battlefield-grade shotguns, and various handguns reportedly registered at his address in Davao City.
