The request of Senator Bato Dela Rosa was denied.
Senator Bato Dela Rosa requested that his family be allowed to use the Senate Mansion in Baguio City, but this was denied.
Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa has recently sought permission for his family to use the Senate Mansion in Baguio City. Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III confirmed receiving this request and described it as a “privileged communication.”

Based on the reports, he made the request on March 12, and in the letter, he explained that his family will attend activities connected to the 2026 Chief of Staff Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP) Cup, which will be held at the Philippine Military Academy firing range in Fort Del Pilar.
As per the latest, the request was denied. It may not push through because, according to Senate Secretary Mark Llandro “Dong” Mendoza, the Senate Mansion is currently undergoing repairs, making it unavailable for use.
Moreover, under the existing policy, a senator’s family may only stay at the property if the senator is present to accompany them.
The Senate Mansion in Baguio has long functioned as an official residence and lodging facility for senators during official engagements or activities in the city. Its use is generally subject to approval and governed by internal guidelines set by the Senate Secretariat.
This request has drawn attention online, especially since Dela Rosa has been absent from Senate sessions for several months. He’s been absent from the Senate since late 2025 following discussions about a possible warrant from the International Criminal Court related to the Duterte administration’s anti-drug campaign.
As the top cop under former President Rodrigo Duterte, he was tagged as a co-perpetrator in the previous administration’s war on drugs, which left thousands of drug suspects dead.
