Filipinos Rejoice as GCash Removes Transfer Fees to Middle East Countries

GCASH – Overseas Filipino workers and their families may finally catch a break as GCash rolls out a limited-time offer.

Digital wallet platform GCash has introduced a limited-time offer that removes international transfer fees for users sending money from the Philippines to select Middle Eastern countries. The announcement, made on Tuesday, highlights the company’s effort to ease the financial burden for Filipinos supporting loved ones abroad.

According to the Ayala-led fintech firm, the promo runs from March 12 to 31, 2026, and covers transfers to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman. Customers can take advantage of the offer without worrying about transaction size, as the company emphasized that there is “no minimum amount required” to avail of the fee waiver during the promotional period.

“Sending support to loved ones in the Middle East just got easier,” the company said in an advisory, underlining its mission to simplify cross-border financial assistance. The initiative is particularly significant for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families, many of whom rely heavily on remittances for daily needs and long-term expenses.

The announcement comes at a critical time, as thousands of Filipinos remain stranded across parts of the Middle East due to an ongoing conflict in the region. With airspace conditions still considered unsafe, travel options have become limited, making financial support from home even more vital.

Despite current challenges, the Middle East continues to be a major contributor to the Philippines’ remittance inflows. These funds play a key role in sustaining the country’s economy, supporting household consumption, and boosting national growth.

Meanwhile, G-Xchange Inc. (GXI), the operator behind GCash, assured users that all transactions remain secure and compliant with local regulations. The company operates under the supervision of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, ensuring adherence to strict financial safety standards.

This latest move reflects a broader trend among digital wallet providers in the Philippines, which are increasingly expanding their services beyond borders. By offering more accessible and cost-efficient solutions, these platforms continue to strengthen their role in connecting Filipinos worldwide while adapting to the evolving needs of a global workforce.
