Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Gov’t Efforts amid Soaring Oil Costs in PH
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President called on the Filipinos for the spirit of Bayanihan amid the oil crisis in the Philippines.
Following the joint airstrike of the United States and Israel to Iran, the government of Iran placed restrictions on the passage in the Strait of Hormuz. It asserted that the strait is open for international vessels except for those that are linked to their enemies.
The restrictions in the passage in the Strait of Hormuz has reportedly affected the global markets causing the oil prices to soar. Previously, Iran warned the world to prepare for oil to be at $200 per barrel.
Iran wants the U.S. to regret the supposed “grave miscalculation” of the Amercian nation through the soaring oil costs. U.S. Pres. Donald Trump previously warned Iran that they might be hit harder if they will block the global oil flow. For its part, Iran said that negotiations with U.S. is no longer on their agenda.
The Philippines is one of the countries affected by the soaring oil costs amid the ongoing Middle East war. The country relies heavily on imported oil, thus, the prices of diesel, gasoline, and kerosene have been taking a really upward trend since the tension escalated.
Today, another nationwide strike is held in the Philippines amid the series of oil price increases in the Philippines. Amid the oil crisis, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called on the Filipinos to show to the world the spirit of Bayanihan.
“Ngayon ang panahon para maipakita natin sa buong mundo ang katangian ng bayanihan na nasa puso ng bawat Pilipino,” the President said in a video message.
In his message, Marcos Jr. claimed that every Filipino can contribute in dealing with the oil crisis in the Philippines in our own ways. He also asked the public not to add to the problem by spreading fake news.
“Bawat isa sa atin ay may magagawa namang paraan para makatulong. Pagtitipid man, pagtulong sa kapwa, o kahit sa pamamahagi ng tamang impormasyon. Hindi pagkakalat ng fake news. Huwag naman sana tayong magdagdag pa sa problema,” Marcos Jr. said.
Furthermore, in his message, the President gave a reminders to every Filipino that not caring for one fellow Filipinos is supposedly the same with neglecting the country. According to him, the people can rely on the government for help amid the situation.
“Lahat tayo ay kailangan magtulungan. Alalahanin natin ang pagmamahal natin sa ating mga kababayan. Huwag nating kakalimutan na kapag pinabayaan natin ang isa sa atin, napabayaan na natin ang buong bansa. Asahan naman ninyo na nandito lang ang pamahalaan bilang inyong takbuhan at sandalan,” Marcos Jr. said.
With regards to the oil supply in the Philippines, Pres. Bongbong Marcos previously claimed that other countries are allegedly willing to help the Philippines in our oil supply amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.
