In the podcast “Unshaken with Gary V” of Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano, President Bongbong Marcos revealed that his childhood dream is to be a musician or a scientist. He also shared that he even studied music for a couple of years abroad.

“My sister [has] always said, ‘The two dreams in your life were to be an astronaut, because of the science, and to be a rockstar.’ It’s true, I would’ve done anything to fly in space, and I would’ve done anything to have a life in music,” the President said.

He also said that even though his father was the president, initially, becoming one was not his dream.

Marcos revealed that when he was young, he was teased that he would become the next president.

“I’ve been hearing it all my life, and maybe that’s part of the reason I resist. I think I first heard it when I was three years old [or] four years old… and I always said, ‘Of course not, I’m not going to be, I’m going to be something else,’” the President shared.

Marcos admitted that witnessing the life of his father was one of the reasons why he never thought of enterting the political arena when he was young.

The President also shared that growing up, he had interest in mathematics and science, and this was the reason why he wanted to be a scientist.

“I said, ‘I’m going to be a scientist. I want to be a scientist.’ I dreamed of working in a lab in a white coat and doing really important research… and maybe teach a little bit,” he shared.

Meanwhile, his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos’s fondness for music, inspired his dream to become a musician.

When he was young, he remembered that their household was always filled with music.

“The other thing that really was always there is music. And my mother, because she is so musically minded, we always had music in our house. When I was studying already abroad, I started studying music… I studied music for years,” President Bongbong Marcos said.

The President learned how to play some musical instruments like Fflute and saxophone. He also and played in an orchestra and a school band.
