Malacañang Speaks on Pres. Bongbong Marcos amid Impeachment Complaints

BONGBONG MARCOS – Malacañang Palace said the President is worried not for himself on the impeachment complaint against him but for country’s economy.

The House of Representative’s Justice panel recently declared two (2) impeachment complaints filed against Marcos as “substantial in form”. The President is accused of alleged betrayal of public trust over several grounds.

The first impeachment rap filed against Marcos Jr. was written by lawyer Andre de Jesus. It was endorsed by Deputy Minority Leader at Pusong Pinoy Party-list Rep. Jett Nisay. De Jesus accused the President of allegedly betraying the public trust over the following grounds:

  • Respondent ordered and enabled the kidnapping and surrender of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
  • Respondent is unfit to serve as President due to drug addiction.
  • Respondent committed betrayal of public trust when he failed to veto unprogrammed appropriations (UA) and other unconstitutional provisions in the General Appropriations Bill (GAB).
  • Respondent engaged in graft and corruption through kickbacks and ghost projects.
  • Respondent created the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) to shield corrupt allies.
  • Respondent violated the Constitution and betrayed public trust by surrendering former President Duterte to the ICC.

Previously, ahead of the impeachment raps being filed against Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the Malacañang Palace said the Chief Executive is ready to face any impeachment complaint that may be filed against him. Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro also stressed several times that Marcos Jr. respects the process.

Recently, the Malacañang spoke anew on the impeachment complaints against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. According to News5, during a press conference, Atty. Claire Castro stressed that even the Philippine economy may be affected by the filing of the impeachment raps against the President.

“Ang pagsasampa po ng impeachment complaint laban po sa Pangulo, hindi Pangulo lamang ang maaapektuhan nito kundi ang buong bansa at pati ekonomiya,” the Palace official said.

Based on the post, Atty. Claire Castro further stressed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is not worried over the impeachment complaints filed against him as he knows that he supposedly did not do anything wrong and did not commit an impeachable offense. According to the Malacañang official, what the President worries about is the economy of the country.

“Nababahala po ang Pangulo sa impeachment complaint na isinampa sa kaniya hindi para sa sarili niya dahil alam niya na wala siyang ginawang mali… Nag-aalala siya sa epekto nito sa ekonomiya,” Castro said.

Amid the issues and accusations, Marcos Jr. previously claimed that his son, Ilocos Norte Congressman Sandro Marcos, did not inform him that he will step back from the House process on the impeachment complaints against him.
