Car Driver Flees After Full Tank, Leaves Pump Attendant Unpaid
A car driver is being sought by authorities after fleeing a gas station in Quezon City without paying for a full tank of diesel.
According to a 22-year-old pump attendant along EDSA, the driver arrived around 12:45 a.m. and asked if diesel was available. After confirming, the driver requested a full tank. Since there were no other customers at the time, the staff immediately assisted him.
“Tinanong ko kung magkano, sabi niya po full tank daw po sagad. Kinargahan ko na po siya. Nung nag-matic na po ang nozzle, tinanong ko po ulit siya kung sagad then sabi niya okay na raw po. Then sinara ko na po yung gas tank niya. Tapos ayun po tumakbo na po siya,” the pump attendant said.
Once the tank was filled, the total reached P5,196.45. However, instead of settling the payment, the driver suddenly sped away, leaving the attendant stunned. The worker tried to chase the vehicle and even struck the window in an attempt to get the driver’s attention, but it was too late.
Determined to catch up, the attendant sought help from a motorcycle taxi rider and followed the vehicle along EDSA. Despite the effort, they were unable to locate the motorist.
“Hinabol ko pa po yun. Sinuntok ko pa po yung bintana niya sakaling mabasag po pero hindi, tapos hinabol pa po namin ng move it, hindi na naabutan,” the employee added.
The incident was clearly recorded on the gas station’s CCTV cameras, which are now being used as key evidence in the investigation. The case was immediately reported to the barangay and the police.
Authorities from the Quezon City Police District have launched a backtracking operation to identify the suspect. They are also coordinating with the MMDA and the LTO to trace the vehicle, described as a white SUV.
Meanwhile, the gas station management has chosen not to comment while the investigation is ongoing.
