Claire Castro Drops Explosive Remark Against VP Sara Duterte Over Most Corrupt Issue
CLAIRE CASTRO – A heated exchange between Usec. Claire Castro and Vice President Sara Duterte have once again ignited political tensions after a bold and controversial remark.
Tensions escalated between Palace Press Officer and Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro and Vice President Sara Duterte following a fresh exchange of sharp remarks.
Castro fired back at Duterte after the latter claimed that it was more embarrassing for Castro to serve as spokesperson of the Office of the President (OP). The Vice President reiterated her criticism during an interview with News5 on Thursday, February 12, 2026, stressing that she has repeatedly said Castro brings shame to the country in her role.
“Sinasabi ko na nga na paulit-ulit na ano, na si Claire Castro, nagdadala ‘yan ng kahihiyan sa ating bayan dahil tinawag siya na Spokesperson ng Office of the President,” said Duterte.
In response, Castro addressed the issue in an interview with DZMM Teleradyo on Friday, February 13, 2026. She firmly rejected the accusation, saying that telling the truth should not be considered shameful.
“Ang pagsasabi ng katotohanan, hindi po ‘yan nakakahiya,” she said.
She further added, “Ang nakakahiya, ‘yong madalas nilang ginagawa, ‘yong gumagawa lamang at nagtatahi-tahi ng kuwento.”
Castro then took a pointed swipe at the Vice President, saying it was more embarrassing to be the child of someone labeled “most corrupt” by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) in 2017, referring to former President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Hindi ba mas nakakahiya ‘yong naging anak ka ng most corrupt no’ng 2017? Sino ba ang sinabi ng OCCRP na most corrupt noong 2017? Ang dating Pangulong Duterte,” she said.
She continued with another remark: “‘Di ba mas nakakahiya ata ang tawaging anak ng isang korap,” she added.
Castro also described the Vice President’s remarks as strategic attacks aimed at getting ahead of the President.
“‘Yong mga ganitong klaseng pasaring ng Bise Presidente, ano ito e, utak buwitre. Parang naghihintay ng maaring saying pangit o negatibo sa Pangulo para manguna,” she concluded.
As of this writing, the Vice President has yet to release any new statement or reaction regarding Castro’s latest comments.
