Authorities Arrest Construction Worker Over Alleged Abuse of Minor Daughter
A 34-year-old construction worker has been arrested in Cainta, Rizal, over allegations that he sexually abused his minor daughter when she was 12 years old.
According to police, the alleged abuse happened several times inside the family’s home before the suspect’s wife filed a complaint against him in September 2023. The mother reportedly witnessed the incident involving their daughter, prompting her to seek help from authorities.
Police Major Ricarte Tangdol, officer-in-charge of the Cainta Municipal Police Station, confirmed that the case stemmed from the mother’s allegations against her husband. Investigators said the complaint involved acts that allegedly took place within their household.
The suspect was surrendered to the Cainta police tracker team on Saturday, October 17, after a warrant for his arrest was issued. His parents reportedly contacted the police after learning about the warrant and cooperated with authorities.
Police welcomed the family’s decision to turn over the suspect, noting the importance of following the law and allowing the legal process to move forward.
The man is now under police custody and faces two counts of acts of lasciviousness and two counts of sexual assault. The recommended bail for the charges amounts to P720,000.
The suspect declined to comment on the allegations against him. The accusations have yet to be resolved in court, and he remains entitled to due process.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development has provided the minor with appropriate support following the reported abuse. Authorities have not disclosed further details about the assistance to protect the child’s privacy.
Police also reminded victims of abuse that they should not be afraid to seek help. They encouraged those experiencing abuse to report their situation to law enforcement officers or reach out to trusted relatives and friends who can help them get protection.
