An elderly grandma and a male buyer were arrested after police seized more than P100,000 worth of illegal drugs.
On Wednesday, October 21, 2026, a 76-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man were arrested after police seized more than P100,000 worth of suspected illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation in Baseco Compound, Manila.
The operation took place in Barangay 649, Zone 68, Port Area, after authorities monitored the elderly woman for a week. Police began their surveillance after receiving information from a confidential informant about her alleged involvement in illegal drug sales.
According to Major Armando Linget, deputy commander of the Manila Police District-Baseco Police Station, the woman allegedly used different methods to arrange drug transactions. She reportedly contacted previous customers through text messages and arranged meetings to complete the exchanges.
During the operation, police caught the woman allegedly selling suspected illegal drugs. A 33-year-old man was also arrested after he was caught buying drugs from her.
Authorities explained that the man was not the original target of the operation. However, he was apprehended after becoming involved in the suspected drug transaction during the buy-bust.
Police recovered more than 15 grams of suspected illegal drugs from the two suspects. The seized drugs had an estimated street value of P105,672.
Investigators also discovered that the elderly woman had previously been arrested in Bataan in 2017. At that time, authorities reportedly found around 50 grams of illegal drugs in her possession. However, she was later released.
Following their latest arrest, both suspects were brought into police custody and are facing charges for alleged violations of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The two suspects declined to give statements regarding the allegations against them.
