Father Passes Away After Allegedly Suffering From Heart Attack & Collapses in Chest-Deep Floodwaters
A man father in Caloocan City lost his life after he was believed to have suffered a heart attack and collapsed in chest-deep floodwaters.
The residents found the man unconscious and partially submerged in floodwater. A video showed concerned neighbors quickly coming together to rescue him. They placed him on a chair and carried him through the flooded streets while trying to bring him to safety.
The rescue operation was far from easy. Around ten men worked together to carry the victim while pushing against strong and fast-moving floodwaters. Their efforts became even more difficult because they had to move against the current while searching for a safer route out of the flooded area.

When a rescue boat from Barangay 32 arrived, the victim was transferred and rushed for further assistance. However, it took around 30 minutes before he could reach the hospital because of the flood conditions.
Unfortunately, he was declared dead before he could receive the treatment he needed.
Family members believe that the father became overwhelmed and panicked because of the severe flooding. They suspect that the stress of the situation may have triggered a heart attack before he fell into the water.
“Nerbiyoso po si papa. So siguro kahit naman po heart attack ‘yun, siguro po mas nabigyan ng chance ‘yung father ko kung walang baha po noong time na ‘yun kasi mas magiging accessible po ‘yung daan nang mas mabilis papunta sa ospital po,” Gian Carlo, the victim’s son said.
The victim had reportedly stepped outside their home to switch off the circuit breaker as floodwaters continued to rise. By that time, the water level in their area had already reached chest height.
City officials said doctors found that the victim had taken in a significant amount of water. His death has left his family grieving and raising concerns about the dangers residents face whenever major flooding happens.
Metro Manila has been experiencing more than two weeks of continuous rain caused by recent weather disturbances and the southwest monsoon, resulting in widespread flooding across many areas.
