Father Touches Netizens After Fully Accepting and Supporting LGBT Son in Tarlac
A loving father touched many hearts online for showing an unconditional love and acceptance for his child who is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community in Tarlac City.
A father named Leslie Tuquero and his child, Rain Ezekiel Tuquero, also known as Kiela touches many hearts online. In a viral video shown on a television feature, Leslie surprised Kiela with flowers and even gifted wigs to make the child happy.
Kiela was seen happily wearing a dress, heels, and accessories while proudly expressing individuality at home.
Inside their house, Kiela is free to wear feminine clothes and confidently show personality without fear of judgment from family members. According to Leslie, he already noticed when Kiela was younger that the child preferred playing with girls and enjoyed dolls and other toys usually associated with girls.
Leslie eventually had a serious conversation with Kiela, who openly admitted feelings and identity. Instead of reacting negatively, the father chose understanding and acceptance.
Tuquero explained that love should always begin within the family because children deserve to feel safe and happy in their own homes.
Although Leslie admitted he never expected to have an LGBTQIA+ child, he said love became stronger than any confusion or fear. Rather than rejecting Kiela, he embraced and supported the child wholeheartedly.
Kiela’s grandmother also expressed support for the close relationship between father and child. Meanwhile, their mother currently works as a caregiver in Germany.
Despite receiving love from family, Kiela also shared experiences of bullying and hurtful words from classmates. Still, the child continues to stay strong with the support of loved ones.
“Nu’ng sinurprise ko siya ng wig… ‘Magpahaba ka na lang ng buhok,’ kako ayaw niya. ‘Bilhan mo ako ng wig,’ kaya sinurprise ko siya ng wig. Kaya ‘yun tuwang-tuwa naman siya, dalawa nga ‘yung wig niya ngayon,” Kiela said.
Leslie said he would continue supporting Kiela for as long as he lives because that is how he shows love as a father.
