Duterte’s Spox Harry Roque Renews Call for Marcos Jr. To Step Down
HARRY ROQUE – Former President Rodrigo Duterte’s former Spokesman called on Pres. Bongbong Marcos to resign and just give the presidency to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
Last November 2025, in front of thousands of members of Iglesia ni Cristo, Senator Imee Marcos accused her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, of allegedly using illegal drugs. She made the accusation in front of thousands of INC members during a rally and her speech was televised.
The move of Sen. Imee Marcos earned different reactions from the Filipino people. A lot of criticisms were thrown against Pres. Bongbong Marcos over the claim of the presidential sister.
She did not directly asked him to step down but the Senator called on the President to just go home and get some treatment. According to her, she can afford to see him losing the presidency but she cannot afford to lose her brother allegedly to illegal drugs.
Following the claim of Sen. Imee Marcos, the calls for Pres. Bongbong Marcos to resign intensified. The ex-Spokesman of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, Harry Roque, is one of those who called for the resignation of PBBM even before the illegal drug use accusation of the Senator.
Harry Roque is currently in The Hague, Netherlands. He’s away from the country for a year now. He previously went into hiding after the House of Representatives ordered his arrest for contempt over the investigation of his alleged involvement in the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming operations.
Roque claimed that he will only return to the Philippines after the term of Marcos Jr. ends. According to Duterte’s former Spox, he’s allegedly being pressured and targeted because of his ties with the Duterte family. He reaffirmed his loyalty to the former President until death.
Recently, Harry Roque renewed his call for Pres. Bongbong Marcos to resign. Based on a post on social media, Duterte’s former Spokesman claimed that he does not understand why Marcos Jr. allegedly thinks that he can still lead the country.
“Hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit sa tingin mo kaya mo pa ring magpatakbo. Talagang ‘yang addiction na ‘yan, ‘yan po ay pagkakasakit, ‘yan po’y isang mental condition,” he expressed.
Harry Roque further claimed that the supposed illegal drug use of Pres. Bongbong Marcos is allegedly a hindrance to good leadership. Based on the post, he called on the President give the presidency to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
“‘Yan po talaga ay hadlang para ikaw ay magkaroon ng mabuting pamumuno kaya nga tama na, sobra na. Ibigay na dun sa pinili mo mismo na alam mong magpapatuloy kung hindi mo na kaya at ‘yan nga si VP Sara. Kaya ka nagkaroon ng vice president,” he added.
Previously, presidential son and Ilocos Norte Congressman Sandro Marcos slammed his aunt, Sen. Imee Marcos, over her accusation against PBBM.
