Honest Resident Surrenders P53,000 Found Along Highway to Basud Municipal Police Station
An honest resident in Basud, Camarines Norte, has turned over P53,000 that he found along the Maharlika Highway to the police authorities.
Recently, the Facebook page Basud Municipal Police Station shared photos of an honest resident who turned over the money he found. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
The man was identified as Reymark L. Buban, a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Matnog, Basud. According to the police report, Buban was traveling along the Maharlika Highway from Pamorangon in Daet toward Basud at around 12:20 p.m. on September 28, 2026.
While on the road, he reportedly noticed money falling from a person riding a motorcycle ahead of him. Buban immediately tried to catch up with the rider because he wanted to return the money directly.
Unfortunately, he was unable to reach the motorcycle before continuing his journey toward Basud. Instead of taking the cash home, he decided to bring it to the Basud Municipal Police Station so authorities could help locate its rightful owner.
“Dahil dito, agad siyang nagtungo sa Basud Municipal Police Station upang isuko ang napulot na pera at matulungan ang tunay na may-ari na maibalik ito,” PNP Basud MPS said.
The police station is now asking anyone who may have lost P53,000 along the highway that day to visit the station personally. The possible owner is also being asked to provide enough proof or documents to confirm ownership before the money can be released.
The police expressed their appreciation to Buban for choosing to do the right thing. His decision to surrender the cash showed honesty, concern for others, and a willingness to help someone recover what could be an important amount of money.
