Camarines Sur Police Officer Who Suffers Serious Injury After Responding to Disturbance Receives Medal for Bravery
A police officer who suffered serious injuries while responding to a disturbance in Camarines Sur received medal of bravery.
Police Staff Sergeant Noli Miraña of the San Jose Municipal Police Station was awarded the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting, a recognition given to police personnel who are wounded while performing their duties
The award was presented in recognition of the bravery and sacrifice he showed during a dangerous incident in Barangay Calalahan, San Jose.
According to reports, Miraña and his fellow officers responded to a police assistance call involving a disturbance in the community. As the team attempted to peacefully resolve the situation, they were suddenly attacked by a man armed with a machete.
During the incident, Miraña suffered severe injuries. He sustained a deep wound on the right side of his face, and his left hand was severed during the attack. Despite the danger, the responding officers continued their efforts to control the situation.
His fellow police officers quickly intervened and managed to stop the suspect, preventing further harm to other people in the area. The quick action helped bring the situation under control and avoid additional victims.

On August 24, 2026 (Monday), Police Brigadier General Ronaldo I. Fulo, Deputy Regional Director for Administration of PRO 5, visited Miraña at the Bicol Medical Center on behalf of Regional Director Police Brigadier General Erosito N. Miranda.
The visit was made to personally express the support and appreciation of the entire organization for the injured officer and his family.
Miraña is currently recovering after undergoing a successful operation to reattach his left hand. Police officials assured him of continued assistance and support throughout his recovery.
