Jonvic Remulla reacted to this fiery statement of Baste Duterte
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)Secretary Jonvic Remulla reacted to Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte’s statement that he “needed only President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.’s head.”
Over the weekend, Mayor Baste was hailed as the new President of the political party PDP-Laban, which is chaired by his father, former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Along with this move, a declaration surfaced that Mayor Baste would be the “Plan B” for the 2028 presidential elections.

To recall, the Davao City Mayor’s older sister, Vice President Sara Duterte, has already declared in February that she will run for president in the next elections.
However, with the impeachment complaints against her, there would be a possibility that she would not be allowed to run. Former congressman Mike Defensor confirmed in a statement that Mayor Baste Duterte is indeed the “Plan B” of the Duterte camp, if ever VP Sara’s presidential stint will not push through.
During the political gathering of PDP-Laban last Sunday, based on the report from Inquirer, Mayor Baste had a fiery remark.
The Mayor said that if there were widespread theft, bribery, or whatever, this should be enough already because the president has tolerated them. Then, he questioned what would be next after stealing.

Mayor Baste added, “Okay na ’yan. Siguro ’yung mga anak niyo makakapag-aral sa abroad. You can eat at very nice restaurants. Tama na ’yan. It’s okay. Isang ulo lang naman ang kailangan namin, ang ulo ni Bongbong Marcos!”
On Tuesday, speaking before the reporters, Sec. Jonvic Remulla downplayed the former presidential son’s statement.
The DILG Secretary also said that it is within the bounds of Mayor Baste’s rights to say that about PBBM. Then, Remulla stressed, “I wouldn’t put too much weight on the words of Baste. Sup*t naman ’yan eh.”
