Kara David Asks Parody Page FTTM to Stop Using Her Name for Fake Rap Single Post

Veteran GMA journalist Kara David has called out a digital creator page for spreading a misleading post about her, saying she does not want to be used as “content.” The page has since taken down the post and apologized, according to GMA Entertainment.

In a Facebook post, Kara shared a screenshot of the page FTTM announcing that she had supposedly released a debut rap single titled “Ikulong na ‘yan, mga ka-rakot,” featuring rapper Loonie. The claim was not true.

What actually happened is that Kara appeared in a vlog with Loonie, where the two talked about their experiences and views on rap music. They also reacted to several rap battle videos, which apparently became the basis for the joke post.

Kara acknowledged that FTTM is a parody page, but asked it to make clear that the post was only meant as a joke. “Huwag po kayo magkalat ng maling impormasyon. Lalo na’t ginagamit ninyo ang pangalan ko,” she wrote.

She added a direct request: “Please do not use me as content for your page lalo na kung disinformation. Paki-delete na lang po ang post. Salamat po.” Soon after, she updated her followers that the page had removed the post and reached out to say sorry.

Many netizens applauded her for speaking up. Several echoed her concern about how easily a public figure’s name can be attached to made-up stories online, especially when a joke is not clearly labeled as one.

Kara is widely regarded as one of the most trusted and award-winning journalists in the country. She continues to tell real-life stories on i-Witness while also hosting the travel and food show Pinas Sarap, as noted by GMA.

The episode is a reminder that even content meant as satire can mislead readers who only see a screenshot, and that a quick clarification from the people involved can stop a false claim before it spreads further.
