LTO Renewal Schedule 2026 — When To Renew Licenses and Registrations That Expired From July to October
LTO RENEWAL SCHEDULE 2026 – If your driver’s license, vehicle registration, student permit or medical certificate expired between July and October this year, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has now set specific dates when you can renew it without paying late fees or penalties.
The schedule is laid down in LTO Memorandum Circular No. MVL-2026-5523 dated October 29, 2026, which lifts the blanket validity extension the agency granted under Memorandum Circular No. MVL-2026-5271 dated July 29, 2026. That earlier extension was issued because of problems with the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS), which the LTO said have now been substantially resolved, as reported by the Philippine News Agency and GMA News.

LTO Penalty-Free Renewal Schedule
To avoid long lines at its offices, the LTO staggered the renewal windows according to the month your document expired:
| Month of Expiry | Renewal Starts | Last Day (Final Extension) |
|---|---|---|
| July and August 2026 | November 3, 2026 | December 29, 2026 |
| September 2026 | December 1, 2026 | January 29, 2027 |
| October 2026 | January 4, 2027 | February 26, 2027 |
For example, a motorist whose license expired in August 2026 may renew any time from November 3 until December 29, 2026. Someone whose car registration lapsed in October 2026 has to wait for the window that opens on January 4, 2027, and should finish the renewal by February 26, 2027.
Which Documents Are Covered?
Based on the LTO advisory, the grace periods apply to the following documents that expired while the July 29 extension was in effect:
- Motor vehicle registrations
- Driver’s licenses
- Conductor’s licenses
- Student permits
- Medical certificates
What Happens If You Miss Your Window?
Renewals done within the assigned schedule are free of additional charges. However, the LTO warned that motorists who fail to renew within their designated grace period will be charged the corresponding fees and penalties. MotoPinas also noted that vehicles caught being driven with an expired registration can face impounding.
In a statement quoted by GMA News, the LTO explained in Filipino that the grace period and fixed schedule were set to prevent crowding at its offices and to give everyone enough time to renew without extra fees or fines.
What About Documents Expiring From November 2026?
With the LTMS back to normal, the LTO is returning to its regular validity periods and renewal schedules starting this month. This means documents that expire from November 2026 onward are no longer covered by any extension and must be renewed on time under the usual LTO rules.
Tips Before Going to the LTO
- Check the exact expiry date printed on your license or Certificate of Registration (CR) to know which renewal window applies to you.
- Do not wait for the last week of your window, when offices are expected to be busier.
- Complete all your requirements before heading to the LTO office, as the agency advised.
- Follow official LTO pages and announcements for any further changes to the schedule.
